New potato starch Eurosilo for largest producer in Poland

We are proud to announce that, on 10 April 2026, an agreement was signed for the investment in a fully automated Eurosilo system for potato starch, supporting the increased starch production at the Trzemeszno factory. The Przedsiębiorstwo Przemysłu Ziemniaczanego (PPZ) Trzemeszno facility is part of the Capital Group of Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza S.A. and is the largest of its kind in Poland.

Need for more capacity

As stated in their recent press release, this investment marks another step in the dynamic development of the Trzemeszno starch factory. In recent years, the facility has doubled its production capacity, becoming the largest plant of its kind in Poland and one of the major potato starch producers in Europe. The new silo will primarily optimise available storage space to match the growing scale of starch production.

Future-proof Eurosilo storage

The new Eurosilo provides additional storage capacity while significantly reducing the required ground space, currently used to store potato starch that cannot be accommodated in the existing Weibull silo. According to PPZ, the investment will significantly improve product safety. It will also reduce losses associated with the current storage of starch in big bags, as well as lower costs related to packaging materials such as pallets, bags and foil. Improved internal logistics will lead to reduced internal transport costs. Importantly, the new infrastructure will also create conditions for further expansion of production capacity in the future.

Partnering for success

The contract for the entire project was concluded between PPZ and the general contractor Strabag, one of the largest construction companies in the Polish market, employing over 7,400 people and specialising in numerous industries. Richard Spaargaren, Sales Director at Eurosilo, explains: “To meet the requirements for innovative large-capacity storage, Strabag turned to Eurosilo. We partnered closely, combining our expertise to develop a winning proposition. The fact that PPZ was already familiar with the Eurosilo concept, following an assessment of their Weibull silo many years ago, undoubtedly contributed to today’s great step forward!”

Integrated project planning

The new Eurosilo is part of a large infrastructure upgrade, including loading and unloading systems, control systems, and supporting facilities such as technical infrastructure, auxiliary buildings and electrical installations. The project is scheduled to be operational in the second half of 2027, in time for the new potato campaign. Richard adds: “We are working closely with Strabag to deliver all equipment to the construction site and install it within the silo structure by the end of this year, allowing the roof to be closed. This ensures readiness for technical testing in May next year.”
