We’re pleased to announce the combined order for two 60.000 ton Eurosilos, to be built at potato starch factories of AKK and AKD in Denmark. The first silo is scheduled to go live at the AKD factory in Toftlund by the end of 2026. The second potato starch silo is scheduled to be ready in the first quarter of 2027 at the AKK factory in Karup. With the two new silos, AKK and AKD expand their storage capacity to a stunning total of six Eurosilos.

Combined order for cost efficiency
To cope with the constantly increasing demand for potato starch, the factories are expanding their production capacity, which requires more storage capacity in order to buffer between seasonal production and continuous supply to customers worldwide. Richard Spaargaren, Sales Director Eurosilo explains: “AKD in Toftlund approached us first because they needed an extra silo, next to the one that we built in 2019. The Eurosilo is part of a huge expansion plan, including a new production line that will double the production at the location. The AKK factory in Karup followed soon after, with the order for their third Eurosilo. To achieve maximum cost- and operational efficiencies, both were combined into one order.”
Proven system, reliable partner
The potato starch silo is in fact the revolutionary system on which Eurosilo continued to build, ever since its introduction in 1967. Fast forward, AKK and AKD are now one of the leading producers that has years of experience with the proven Eurosilo system in their daily operations. The hatched column system ensures reliable output and the enclosed Eurosilo keeps the starch in excellent condition for an extended amount of time. Needless to say that the small footprint in combination with large capacity storage also adds to the implementation of the Eurosilos at the factory sites.
Efficient project development
Having successfully executed several starch projects together, Eurosilo and the client have established a smooth and effective way of working. This strong cooperation enabled the project to start swiftly, with the official kick-off taking place this September. “This early start gives us a head start with procurement and planning,” says Richard Spaargaren. “Working with reliable partners and a customer who knows exactly what they want, combined with our hands-on approach, ensures both a smooth execution and timely delivery.”
